Retainer woes....please help me?

I had my orthodontist adjust my retainer due to my front tooth changing position and sticking up a bit. It looked weird next to my other front tooth so he pushed the wire of my retainer down a bit so it would push onto the tooth and move it back into position. Well, it worked all right, but now the tooth that was elevated a bit is now lower than the other tooth! So basically, it's the opposite way around now. The tooth that was messed up was pushed down TOO MUCH and now the tooth that was perfectly fine is elevated higher. They look misaligned again. Ugh. What can I do? I wear this retainer full-time for 6 months and then back to nights only. Will my teeth re-settle and line up again or is my tooth goin to stay like this? I feel like I can't win...
