Does a 1 month old know the difference between pacifier And actual bottle milk when hungry?

My lo was hungry last night as he eats every 2.5 - 3 hours .last night we were out and it was most 4 hours since his last feeding. He woke up and cried really bad I had to offer him paci though after reading online I thought he would refuse it as he never takes paci Nd we never try to give one but he kept sucking exactly the same way he eats from bottle for 1/2hour and never spilled it out. When it was falling down he ws crying I put it back in his mouth he kept sucking never refused.i am worried if he knows the differdnce as people says babies don't take paci when really hungry he is 1 month old
