Is this certain doctrine/belief in Christianity closed-minded?

Evangelicals believe that someone must have faith and trust in Jesus to be saved because God sent Jesus to die on the cross and save them, so he is the ONLY path to God. Is this closed minded? What if the person who believes this doctrine had questioned it many times and didn't know if it was true or not but eventually came to conclude that this doctrine is true? Is such a person closed minded?
