Postmark Deadline?

I live in Illinois and am going to apply to a competitive high school in the area. It says it has to be postmarked by March 1st, 2008, which is a Saturday. If I give the mail to them on Saturday, will they postmark it as March 1st, or will they postmark it later? Please give me a straightforward answer.
