What should i have said, when my soon 2 be ex wife used to say i am illiterate?

i have two Masters Degree and she has none. i never gave a thought to such things because i married for love. but she would bring up things like her family members were better educated than mine and even me. Though it humiliated me, i chose to ignore. But, i would want to know how would that bother her when i was doing all the things necessary for a married life.
